Hecate is a European-inspired cocktail bar located in Boston's Back Bay at 48 Gloucester Street, hidden beneath a dark alley and accessible down a flight of stairs. This candlelit, cave-like space with a maximum capacity of 24 features dimly lit ambiance rich with texture, blending vintage allure with modern edge and deep house beats. Beverage director Lou Charbonneau crafts intricate, folklore-inspired cocktails served from a leather-bound Book of Hecate, with drinks garnished creatively using feathers, smudge sticks, or charcuterie. Named after the Greek goddess of magic and crossroads, the bar draws inspiration from spice markets, mythology, dreams, and faraway places. Operating Tuesday through Saturday from 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM on a first-come, first-served basis, Hecate has earned global recognition among the World 50 Best Discovery Bars.
