La Ruina

La Ruina was a cocktail bar honoring Tropical America, established by veteran bartenders Olaf Harmel and Gerry Shirley in the historic Robitzsch Brothers Grocery Store on San Antonio's Near East Side at 410 Austin Street. The carefully restored building reflected Old Havana, Colon Panama, and Salvador, Brasil, maintaining worn details of its many years of use. The menu featured novel and classic cocktails from the region with a spirits collection focused on fine rums and agave spirits, including Latin American-originated specialties like mojitos and piña coladas. Crafted by mixologists with more than 20 years of combined experience, the venue embodied a romantic, classic elegance. Note: La Ruina is currently closed as of May 2026.
